GREAT WHITE Tour Manager Receives Legal Help From Top Specialist
September 22, 2005The Associated Press is reporting that an attorney who represented former Providence Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci Jr. in his appeal of a corruption conviction is joining The Station nightclub fire criminal case.
John "Terry" MacFadyen will help defend Daniel Biechele, the former tour manager for the rock band GREAT WHITE, whose pyrotechnic display sparked the blaze at the West Warwick club.
Biechele, along with the club owners Jeffrey and Michael Derderian, have pleaded innocent to 200 counts each of involuntary manslaughter. The February 2003 fire killed 100 people and injured more than 200 others.
MacFadyen said he was brought on board to help lawyer Thomas Briody because he specializes in complex legal issues.
"This is a case that presents such an issue," he said.
A notice filed Thursday at Superior Court in Providence said MacFadyen will assist Briody "in the preparation and presentation of the legal issues in this case."
Cianci lost his appeal to overturn one count of racketeering conspiracy. He's serving a 64-month prison sentence in Fort Dix, N.J.
